Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is expecting the most successful season in history, which is confirmed by the results of May, during which 479,402 passengers were handled, i.e. 11% more than in the same month last year and represents the highest percentage increase in the last 13 months. 5,164 take-offs and landings were recorded, an increase of 4 percent, while increase in traffic of goods and mail in relation to May 2017 amounts to 50 percent.
Such results significantly were contributed by the organization of the largest European club competition in basket, the Final Four, when over 100,000 passengers and about 160 flights dedicated to this competition were handled in only 6 days. During the tournament, two new records were set up: on Friday, May 18th, the daily record was broken with 11,828 incoming passengers, while on Monday, May 21 the daily record of was also broken with 13,062 departed passengers.
In the first five months of this year, Belgrade Airport has served a total of 1,924,608 passengers, which is 7 percent more than in the same period last year and will soon make a record with 2 millionth passengers in this year. Landings and landings totaled 22,195, while the total turnover of goods and mail increased by 33%.
